This page says what ecom.biz collects when you use the site, why we collect it, who else sees it and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
ecom.biz is run by Katalyst Labs Private Limited, a company registered in Singapore. We follow Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). If you are in the European Union or the UK, the GDPR also covers the data we hold about you.
You can reach our data protection officer at ceo@ecom.biz.
What we collect and why
Your email address, if you sign up. We use it to send you a 6-digit code that unlocks the course. When you enter the code, we email ourselves your address, the page you signed up on and whether you ticked the box for our emails. That email is our record of your sign-up.
Our emails, only if you ask for them. If you tick "Also email me tips and new tools", we may send you occasional emails about the course and the tools in it. Every one has an unsubscribe link. If you leave the box empty, the code is the only email you get from us.
How the site is used. Google Analytics shows us which pages people read and for how long, which site sent them, their rough location (country and city) and their type of device and browser. It does not tell us who you are, and it does not store IP addresses.
Server logs. Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, it logs each request: the IP address, the browser, the page asked for and the time. Cloudflare uses these logs to keep the site running and to protect it from attacks.
Affiliate links and Shopify banners. Some of our links to Shopify, and the banners marked "Sponsored", go through Impact, an affiliate network. When you click one, Impact records the click, so Shopify can pay us a commission if you sign up. The banners also load a small image from Impact that counts how many people saw them. We never get your name or email from this. How we earn says more.
Cookies and browser storage
Google Analytics sets two cookies whose names start with _ga. They last up to two years and tell one visit from the next. Impact's counting image may set cookies of its own.
If you visit from Europe or the UK, we ask first. Google Analytics and Impact's counter only run after you click "Accept cookies". Everywhere else they run unless you turn them off. You can change your choice at any time under "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
The site also keeps a few notes in your browser. They stay on your device, and the site needs them to work, so we don't ask first:
- that you have unlocked the course, until you clear your browser data
- a code you are waiting for, until you close the tab
- that you closed the Shopify bar on your phone, until you close the tab
- your cookie choice, until you clear your browser data
Who else handles your data
These companies help us run the site:
- Resend sends our emails.
- Google runs Google Analytics, and may use what it collects as its own policy describes.
- Cloudflare hosts the site.
- Impact runs our Shopify affiliate links.
When you click through to a tool's own site, its privacy policy applies there. We don't sell your data, and we don't give your email to anyone else.
Where your data is stored
These companies may store and process data outside Singapore, including in the United States. We use providers that protect it to a standard comparable to the PDPA.
How long we keep it
- Your email: until you ask us to delete it.
- Google Analytics: data tied to your browser is deleted after 14 months at most.
- Resend, Cloudflare and Impact keep their own records for as long as their privacy policies say.
Your rights
- To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email ceo@ecom.biz. We reply within 30 days.
- To stop our emails, click unsubscribe in any of them, or email us.
- To change your cookie choice, use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page.
- To turn off Google Analytics on every site you visit, install Google's opt-out add-on.
In the EU or the UK, you can also ask us to limit or stop how we use your data, and to give you a copy in a common format.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
ecom.biz is for adults starting a business. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
